In 1997, Domaine des Ardoisières was founded on the slopes of the Cévins and Saint-Pierre-de-Soucy mountains. Thus, following a project by the village mayor, Denis Perroux, the abandoned vineyard was replanted under the guidance of winemaker Michel Grisard. The idea came to fruition in May 1998 with the first planting of 20 acres of the local Altesse grape variety on behalf of Louis and Fernand Pointet and André Hybord. In the same year, the landowners cut down the forest and laid tracks. In early 1999, Didier Manghera began to remove stumps and dig up the hillside with his “spider shovel”. The first harvest was harvested in October 2002. A few months later, two fateful meetings took place: Denis Perroux met Brice Omont, a winemaker passionate about biodynamic viticulture, and Michel Gisard, an agricultural engineer from Champagne. Since 2008, they have been managing the Domaine des Ardoisières. Today, it is one of the most promising estates in the region.
Philosophy: To express as fully as possible the purity and aromatic complexity acquired by the grapes during the harvest. The wine reflects the quality of the grapes.
The vines are located on a west-south facing soil consisting of shale marls and clay-limestone screes. Clay soil of the Saint-Pierre-de-Soussy and Aprémont slopes. Vinification with whole bunches (minimum 50%). Wild yeasts. Ageing: in vats for 8 months.
A wine of great precision, it reveals itself in aromas of ripe red fruits and floral notes. Excellently balanced, with a very rich structure and pleasant elasticity.
